Remember that pizza has a tempting smell of spices and a pleasant flavor. So, it won’t be long before your tyke discovers where you are hiding the savory. We also know that dogs have an affinity for begging for human foods, and their owners generally can’t refuse. But have you ever thought, is it safe for them? See, the answer depends on the amount that you offer to your pet. Offering a small piece of your leftover pizza would not create any problem, but if they are given whole large-sized pizza with 8-12 pieces, it will lead to various stomach problems. The pizza includes a variety of sausages, toppings, dough, spices, etc., which is not good for your dog’s health.

Pizza comes with a different variety of toppings, and every time we are tempted to the new one. The most common Pizza toppings are Onions and garlic, Sausage, Tomatoes, Extra Cheese, Black Olives, Mushrooms, Spinach, Paneer, and Green peppers.

Can dogs eat onions and garlic? 

Onions and garlic have been shown to be extremely toxic not only to humans but also to dogs. Humans somehow manage to digest the onions and garlic, but it is not so in the case of dogs. If your dog eats onions or garlic, especially in large amounts, it could lead to anemia. Traits of onion or garlic poisoning include gastrointestinal problems such as vomiting and diarrhea.

Is sausage good for dogs?

Sausage is not at all a recommended food for dogs. It could lead to stomach upset, and the presence of sodium in it makes it very dangerous for dogs as it could affect their hearts and kidneys in the distant future.

Are Tomatoes good for dogs? 

Tomatoes are generally good for dogs, and they are also rich in essential dietary elements. Tomatoes contain the antioxidant lycopene. This compound provides several health benefits, such as lowering the risks of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. They are also rich in vitamin C, which is another immune-boosting element.

Extra Cheese, Oh REALLY!! Cheese in large quantities can make our stomachs upset, so how it could be beneficial to the dogs. Cheese has always been promoted among the harmful foods for dogs. Somewhere, even the cheese is made of milk which could lead to vomiting, diarrhea, and bloating. However, some pet owners may prefer it due to its low content of lactose.

Can dogs eat black olives? 

Black olives contain essential fatty acids, which give good health and nutritional benefits to dogs. Other than boosting up your dog’s immunity, the fruit also makes the dog’s fur luminous and radiant.

Can Mushrooms harm your dog?

Not really, in fact, mushrooms are righteous among all the toppings. It contains high amounts of fiber that will keep your tyke’s stomach happy and save your pooch from gaining weight. Besides, it contains a high amount of protein, which is very good for muscle and tissue development.

Is Spinach Good for your dog?

Spinach gives the healthiest nutritional benefits among all the toppings. From making your doggy’s stomach happy to improve your dog’s immunity, spinach plays a very healthy role. Oxalates present in the spinach can pose a problem once in a blue moon.


There are many ingredients in a Pizza that are not good for your dog. So, feeding a very small piece is ok but I would suggest that you do not feed pizza to your dog. Choose healthy meals and take care of your pet dog’s health.
